Stepping Up to Lead - MSU Union Employees Create Central Communication Room

Union Con RoomIn the midst of our Divisional realignment, the need for effective and consistent communication is more important than ever before. We’re making significant transition progress and things are moving quickly. A large part of our realignment success depends on identifying communication roadblocks and finding solutions.

MSU Union employees recently got to talking about how the Union did not have a central place for communication. While staff mailboxes and the office dry-erase calendar were housed in the second floor administrative offices, until recently, there was no central place for posting information, reading information materials – no central communication room.

Union Con RoomWorking toward a solution, Union employees got together and decided to convert the Union’s old Assistant Director Office into a new Communication Room. After ordering supplies, organizing the space, and spreading the word to employees, the Union Communication Room was up and running – complete with an office calendar, employee mailboxes, places for employees to sit and read the latest Transition Talk, and a “Unication” Board, a place for posting all things communication at the MSU Union.

Now is the time to step up and lead – if you have an idea or suggestion on how to improve communications in your unit, you can tell your supervisor, submit on the Future State Web site under “Transition Teams” or call 355-4588 and leave a message for the Transition Team facilitators.
